Aloha, this year Sake will be doing one more race on top of the OC6 beach changeout relay based on feedback.

18 mile beach changeout race details:
Canoe classes: Unlimited or Traditional
Age divisions: Open division only
Women's Crew: Any number of female paddlers only
Mixed Crew: Any number of male and female paddlers
Men's Crew: Any number of male paddlers only
Race course: Crews will start at Magnuson Park/Sand Point Beach, and finish at the Sand Point Pier. Crews will complete six laps from the Sand Point Beach, to the speed limit buoy just north of the swim platform, and back again. Turns around the buoy will be made in a counter-clockwise fashion. Beach changes will happen within 20-feet of shore at the Sand Point Beach. Crews may change any number of paddlers that they choose.
LONG-DISTANCE IRON RACE – 19 miles
Racecourse: Crews will start at Magnuson Park/Sand Point Beach, and finish at the Sand Point Pier. Crews must pass through the WEST high-rise of the Hwy 520 Bridge when headed both north and south. Crews must pass through the east high-rise of the I-90 Bridge when headed both north and south. Crews will do a counterclockwise turn on the buoy that will be positioned at least 100 yards north of the northernmost point at Seward Park. No paddler changes are allowed.
WATER CHANGEOUT RACE – 28 miles
Racecourse: Crews will start at Magnuson Park/Sand Point Beach, and finish at the Sand Point Pier. Crews must pass through the WEST high-rise of the Hwy 520 Bridge when headed both north and south. Crews must circum navigate Mercer Island in a counterclockwise fashion. When headed south, crews must pass through the east high-rise of the I-90 Bridge. Crews must go around the speed limit buoy in the bay on the south side of Seward Park. Crews may change as many paddlers as they would like at any interval they choose. The first water change cannot happen until 20-minutes after race start.
LAKE WASHINGTON RELAY RACE – 26 miles
Racecourse: Crews will start at Magnuson Park/Sand Point Beach, and finish at the Sand Point Pier. The PNWOC Beach Relay Course is a 26-mile OC6 relay race on Lake Washington. It starts on the beach at Sand Point OCC’s club site and ends at the finishing buoy near the north pier in Pontiac Bay. There are three changeout points and four legs. All canoes must pull into the beach at every changeout point whether switching padders or not. Teams may change out as many paddlers as they want at the changeout points. Relay teams may be made up of any number between six and twenty-four paddlers. The whole course map is below. Canoes will travel from Sand Point south on Lake Washington, under the west side of the SR520 bridge, in a counterclockwise direction around Mercer Island, then north under the east side of the SR520 bridge and return to Sand Point.
